One Studienkolleg (STK) is not necessarily like the next Studienkolleg. Depending on whether you aim to study at a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) or at a university, different core courses will be offered:

M-Course:
Obligatory for anybody thinking about enrolling in a medical, biological or pharmaceutical degree programme.

T-Course:
Applicants for a university place in fields of mathematics, science or engineering who do not hold a general higher education entrance qualification must take this course.

You have to complete this course before you can begin to study languages in Germany.

Core Courses at Universities of Applied Sciences:
TI Course
The Studienkollegs at all universities of applied sciences offer courses which aim to prepare students for studies in technical degree programmes.
WW Course
This course prepares students for economics and business studies at universities of applied sciences. With some few exceptions, all Studienkollegs offer this course.
GD Course
Only the Studienkolleg at the FH Cologne** offers preparation for creative and artistic degree programmes.
SW Course
Preparation for social sciences degree programmes at universities of applied sciences is offered by the Studienkollegs in Coburg, Cologne** and Köthen.
