Assessment Test
Attendance of the Studienkolleg ends with the Assessment Test after two semesters, i.e. one year. At least three subjects are tested in written exams. Oral exams may be held in all subjects. Equipped with the certificate documenting that they have passed the Assessment Test and with the certificate issued by their home country, students can then apply for a university place in their preferred subject area. These certificates are fully recognised throughout Germany.
Students who fail the Assessment Test may repeat this once only, at the earliest after one year.
You can also sit the Assessment Test externally (i.e. without first attending a Studienkolleg). Information on the so-called "external exam" is available from the individual Studienkollegs.
