Student Costs
Teaching and examinations at German Studienkollegs are currently free-of-charge for the students (except for in Dresden and Glauchau).
As a registered (matriculated) student, however, you do have to pay semester contributions at the respective universities (registration fee, social contribution, Semesterticket, and other costs). These costs amount to between 30 and 200 euros per semester, depending on the university in question.
The cost of living (accommodation, clothing, meals and drinks, etc.) – depending on the university town – currently amounts to between 550 and 700 euros per month. You have to meet these costs yourself. Scholarships or grants are not normally available for first-year students.
If you are attending a Studienkolleg and maybe later on a university, please keep in mind, that a health insurance policy is mandatory. The costs amount to between approx. 30 and 70 euros per month.
